Slumdog Millionaire Review

I have to admit the story in this movie is definitely enticing, and the storytelling is also very clever. In the movie, Jamal Malik’s painful and tough childhood is revealed through the questions of the popular TV game show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”. Although highly unrealistic, but taken that Slumdog Millionaire is almost like a modern-day fairy tale, I chose to enjoy the story.
When I was taken into Jamal’s childhood, first I noticed the colors. Like many Indian films, every frame is fulled of colors. However, immediately after the shallow visual observation is the hard-swallowed truth, the unsanitary and impoverished slum of Mumbai where Jamal grew up. I think this is what the director Danny Boyle wanted to show the rest of the world through this movie, not just the love story between Jamal and Latika.
Towards the end of the film, the story became predictable. Just like any fairy tale, good triumphs and the evil is defeated, or at least temporary forgettable, and the lovers live happily ever after. Personally, I prefer parts of film about Jamal’s childhood, they make you laugh, worry and cry. So, I definitely recommend this movie. It certainly will make you encouraged due to its happy ending, but I would not say that it is the best film in 2008, probably one that stands out in mediocrity because of the unique and engaging story of Jamal.

I personally also liked it but for some reason, especially the part where
he was burning the kids eyes to make them blind
, it gave me an intense sense of de ja vu. I remembered most of the childhood scenes but not the parts when it shows him grown up. Sorry I havent registered as a member of this site yet I’ll do that right now.

No problem and thanks yeah I noticed that after I posted unfortunately, oh well. Umm at the moment I’m a web design student and I’m in the process of trying to make a personal blog kind of like this one and I was wondering if you had any ideas on what I should put as one of the sections since don’t have a constantly updated flickr account like yourself. I have thought about doing a few things such as having an updated “Favorite Images” section but it doesn’t see like it would work well. If it doesn’t bother you that is, do you have any ideas?

Hmm…I think there are a lot of options. You can post your Twitter stream if you use Twitter, or feature the latest Flickr photo you favorited, or maybe your delicious bookmarks.

Yeah I’m still a student and at the moment I don’t travel enough or have a nice enough camera or editing software to do some digital are so the only things I use twitter and photo sharing sites for are images for my sites. But the bookmarks idea is great, thanks for the advice!
