Adobe Lightroom

I guess this is a confirmed rumor now, since Arstechnica reported on this with detail last night. It’s going to be interesting to observe everyone’s reaction of Lightroom’s public beta release, which is cleverly scheduled on January 10; coincidentally that’s the opening day of Macworld. Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, just for everyone’s information Lightroom is a direct competitor to Apple’s Aperture, a high-end photography workflow program with focus on RAW image processing and batch conversion. The most important selling point for Lightroom is its system requirement. As I mentioned in my previous post about Aperture, Aperture has a higher system requirement, and Lightroom counters with a 1GHz G4 with 768MB of RAM. That’s very impressive! For now, Lightroom is only for Mac OS X, but I am sure there will be a Windows version in near future. Just a personal prediction, I think Lightroom will probably win in the first round considering Adobe’s years of experience in this area.

Yes, it will be very interesting. But what about the price? Adobe’s software isn’t usually very cheap. ;)

That’s true, we will have to see the price of Lightroom. I think they will probably price it a bit cheaper than Aperture just to have an advantage on the competition.
