Blog Entry

Ideas on Blog Network

With the recent dramatic development at 9rules and Inksmith still in its hatching, I think it is the right time to share my vision of a blog network, actually I don’t know if the name “blog network” quite describes what I have in mind. So if you came here looking for more gossip and arguments about the recent Blogging Opera, I am sorry about your disappointment. On the other hand, if you want to hear the ramblings of a layman, then be my guest stick with me a bit longer. Now, let’s get to the meat.

I envision a web site whose main function is to collect and to present the most interesting and well-written blog entries within each topic category. There will be no membership, everyone who owns a blog is a potential participant and contributor. Of course, the blogsphere is immense, it is almost impossible to oversee every entry publication. Therefore the motivation falls on the blog authors or blog readers to submit links in order to bring attention of my envisioned web site of a particular blog entry. It almost operates like Digg but for blogsphere, however with a difference, the judges are a selected group of blog writers who display an outstanding passion and balanced judgment on the assigned topic category. Inevitably, I see the problem here, people may argue that the judgment is still subjective, but I can’t think of anything better in terms of quality control. In addition the web site can organize additional contests and activities in order to spark more creativity in the blogsphere. For instance, selecting a topic for bloggers to write about and submit, and then give awards to the top three winners. I don’t know whether such idea is feasible, but certainly if it is done right I would visit it everyday to save my time from searching good content on my own, or maybe Inksmith will turn out to be something close to this idea, hopefully.
