Google announced yesterday that it has adopted a Chinese brand name for its operations inside China. The chosen name is GUGE or in Chinese è°·æŒ. To be honest, I am a bit disappointed about this name. It sounds awkward, and in no way it embodies the philosophy of the Google Company. Okay, let me just explain the name a bit more: è°· usually moans valley and æŒ means song. So is Google trying to say the company is like a song in a valley? Anyway, I just think Google could have chosen something better.
Now, many Chinese users are starting to speculate on the design of Google’s Chinese home page. Here is one created by Silbo.

Actually, I know you finally moved to WordPress, and I know your new URL. But lately I have been caught up with work and the gradual re-design of this site, and I haven’t gotten time to update your link. Sorry brother, but now the link is updated, and my new blog theme is almost finished. I will write an official post tomorrow. Congrats on your move and welcome to the WordPress family!

I also agree this is not at all any creative name card this company could have done.
Just would like to address one thing that è°·, in this case, means Harvest, not valley, as you may notice that one character could have multiple meanings
