GMail Can POP

Apparently my GMail account just got the red “New Feature” link appearing on top of the page when I logged on today. Guess what is it? Now I can access my account through POP using my favorite email client, Thunderbird.
Over the next several weeks, we are introducing POP access to all of our users. To make sure the feature is fully stable, we’re giving users access to POP in phases. Once POP access is available to you, a ‘New Features!’ link appears at the top of your account, along with a ‘Forwarding and POP’ tab on your ‘Settings’ page.
This is so cool, it makes checking GMail easier and more convenient!

I still use the Web interface. I don’t even use any gmail notifiers, I just open up a page, log on my account & leave it open (it auto-refreshes every few minutes).
Of course, I only do that at home or on my work PC. I like the “conversation” system way too much to lose it over Thunderbird. ;-)

Yea Didou, I do agree with you on that. The web interface of GMail is really cool and innovative. By using a email client, one would loose all the convenient features that Google offers. But it is always good to have it as an option, and knowing that there is such alternative available.

I also understood that the POP service was free during the Gmail beta test (who know how long it’ll be in Beta) but they didn’t know if it would remain free once Gmail goes final.
I would suck to get used to it & then suddenly lose it. *cough*YAHOO*cough*
